Our company has enjoyed a very eventful history. Oschatzer Waagen GmbH has successfully overcome two world wars, various economic systems and Germany's reunification.
On December 17, 1871
the banker Kopp and the former foreman Haberland founded the Oschatzer Waagenfabrik Kopp & Haberland, which produced at that time timing machines, decimal scales, weighing systems, livestock scales and vehicle scales.

1905
The factory at Bahnhofstraße 37 in Oschatz has in the meantime a total of 250 employees. As one of the first companies in Oschatz, it had a phone connection with the number 11.
Some of the early scales can now be seen today in Oschatz' Waagenmuseum (Museum of Scales and Weighing Systems).
1945/46
Expropriation of owners and dismantling of machinery. All systems and machines were shipped abroad as reparation.
1946
Resumption of production as nationally owned enterprise, VEB Oschatzer Waagenfabrik.

The high-precision scales "OWA-Labor" are a huge success of the trade fairs in Leipzig.
1968
Merger of four enterprises and a new name was selected - VEB Wägetechnik Rapido.
In the 1980s the company had up to 500 employees in its operations in Oschatz. The factory produced thousands of scales and weighing systems every year.
1990
Operations continue under the Treuhandanstalt privatization agency with the enterprise becoming a limited liability company (GmbH) with about 200 employees.
1992
Company privatized by an investor from Baden-Württemberg.
1995
Reorganization of Oschatzer Waagenfabrik GmbH.
2004
Company name changed to Oschatzer Waagen GmbH.
Today
The systems and products of Oschatzer Waagen GmbH are successfully implemented in a wide variety of industrial sectors around the globe.
